A reminder of the 1980's magazine for tiny tots and fans of Henry Hall
About the Cosy Corner
In its time (1983 - 1994) the Rev. Ignatius Pubes (Mrs.) O.B.E.'s Cosy Corner was a peculiar little backwater of silliness and sort-of-topical satire (Stanley Baldwin, the League of Nations and the Black Death seemed to be particular favourites), best remembered as the birthplace of the utterly-bewildering "King of the B-Movies". The Cosy Corner has tended to be overshadowed by its offspring. This is an attempt to redress the balance a bit and demonstrate that just because it's apparently much more accessible it's no less complex a bit of whimsy.
My aim is to re-present a representative selection of pieces from various editions of the Cosy Corner. Inevitably, I'll have to include a couple of the early "King of the B-Movie" strips but I don't intend doing much with these for a while. If I can get hold of decent copies I'll also try to include some of the less well-known spin-offs such as "Mavis Dalston's Guide To Turf" and "Creative Pokerwork With Woodrow Wilson."
I'll also be presenting a few insights and background pieces on the Cosy Corners for those of you who are interested in that sort of thing.
Anyway, enough of my drivelling... on with the motley!
Kevin Musgrove was born, twice, in 1933 and then once again in 1937.
He first gained world-wide fame as a noted Latin American dancer aboard HMS Ark Royal; later as Dame Thora Hird's body double in the little-known Russ Meyer movie "Make Me A Nice Cup Of Tea And A Jam Lardy Pussycat!"
He partnered the late Wallace Beery in the successful International Pro-Celebrity Ker-Plunk team that was narrowly defeated by the all-conquering Sandi Shaw-Clement Attlee combo.
Kevin Musgrove was last seen singing excerpts from "Rosemarie" in a haslet foundry in Nuneaton.

Today's Star Wars lovely is The War of Jenkins' Ear, a juicy bit of Mediterranean naughtiness and no mistake! Bet you'd like a nibble of that, eh, lads?
